SALE OF WORK HELD BY ST MICHAEL’S PARISH

The annual sale of work organised by the Ladies’ Sewing Guild of St Michael’s was held in the Parish Hall, Durham Street, yesterday. The hall and stalls were gaily decorated with streamers, flowers and greenery. The Rev E. C. Perry, vicar of the parish, expressed gratitude to Dr Sandston for consenting to open the fair. Dr Sandston said that the Guild had done splendid work in the past, and he hoped that their efforts would be rewarded this year, with the attainment of their object, namely the collecting of £IOO for St Michael’s day school. He then formally declared the sale open. The following is a list of the stalls and .stallholders:—Work stall, Mrs F. G. Gurnsey and the Ladies’ Sewing Guild; produce, Mrs J. Owen, Mrs A. Lamport, Mrs E. Whittington and Mrs E. Easterbrook; cakes, Mrs A. Paul and Miss Hoi way; novelty, Mrs M. F. Blackmore, Miss E. J. Cardale and the Mothers’ Union; variety, Mrs E. E. Jozies, Mrs Drummond Bailey and Mrs A. C. Sandston ; fancy work, members of St Agnes’ Guild; sweets, Misses Claire Ferry, Joan Gard’ner and Agatha Upham; book, Mr S. Lamport; ice cream and soft drinks, Mrs I. Warren and Mrs F. Matthews; afternoon tea, Mrs Sanderson and Miss N. Guthrie; flowers, Mr Whitworth and helpers; amusements, members of St Osmund’s Guild. The fair will be concluded to-night.
