WAGES DECREASE AT HOSPITALS?
BOARD MEMBER FRAMES MOTION FOR CONFERENCE “ That this conference supports legislation suspending the operations of the Arbitration Court for two years.” “ That this, conference supports a general reduction in salaries and wages of its staffs.” Notice to move these remits for consideration of the Hospital Boards’ Conference in Timaru in February was given by Mr H. 11. Holland at the meeting of the North Canterbury Hospital Board to-daj’-. The remits will be considered by the board at its next meeting. Mr Holland said that he was sorry to have to move in the direction indicated, but he thought that the condition of the country made it necessary. The chairman (Mr H. J. Otley) : The board will deal with the remits next month. I Mrs E. R. M’Combs: Next year, or never. “ That is a matter Tor the board.” replied the chairman.
