MR BALDWIN HITS AT LABOUR PARTY.
ARE AT WITS’ END, HE DECLARES IN SPEECH. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received November 26, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, November 25. Mr Baldwin, after receiving a vote of unabated confidence, addressed a conference of Conservative Associations at Kingsway Hall. He indicated that the clouds casting a shadow of unparalleled national depression had a silver lining. The Socialist Party’s doom had been written immediately they left the land of promise for the land of performance. They were still at their wits’ end after eighteen months in office. They were leading a day-to-day existence. The Conservatives would have negotiated freely with the Dominion Conference delegates, /and would have submitted the results to the country, which would have given a verdict. The Socialist Party’s lack of courage had been disastrous. The country’s only hope was to work for Imperial economic unity and develop Dominion trade. When they regained power the Conservatives would prevent foreign dumping, and do everything possible to co-operate with the dominions.
