1 he destruction of Californian thistle by sodium chlorate will be experimented with by the Department of Agriculture more fully next summer than last The experiments, which are described by the Director-General of Agriculture (Dr C. J. Reakes) as being more hopeful than in the case c-f any other suggested agent of destruction will be on a larger scale. Sodium chlorate is stated to have more effect on ragwort than on Californian thistle, owing to the softer leaves of the lormer.
