If Seddon Had Lived.

To the Editor. Dear Sir, —“Worker” says high wages are the cause of unemployment. No doubt they are for some, like himself, perhaps those that do a lot of talking and no jwork. There are too many of those kind in work to-day. If the manufacturers were to dismiss more of those kind and keep the silent worker on, they would find an improved bal-ance-sheet at the end of the year. There is only one cure for the unemployed, and that is for the Government to settle more on the land, but not in the way they did with the returned soldiers—not let these land sharks have a cut out of it. There are thousands of acres lying idle in this beautiful little country that would keep many a family from starving if the Government would buy it right and finance the people to go on to it. Perhaps if Seddon was alive he could show them how it was done. I erhaps they may see it one of these days.—l am, etc., SILENT WORKER.
