CANCER CAMPAIGN.
h. otwithstanding the coldness of the atmosphere, six ladies braved the elements yesterday j.'d made a determined attack on tho Addington saleyards. Armed with Cvl’ection boxes and bags containing hurid-*.'ds of little red and white badges, they onl'ronted the members of the farming community, who were busy buying ana celling their stock. Fortunately for the ladies the price of mutton rose and they »x----turned to town about three o’clock feeling well repaid for their morning’s engagement. This slight skirmish, however, \vas but the forerunner of the big Field Day to-morrow, for which the same ladies are preparing. Boxes and badges will be in evidence at each corner in the city to-morrow. There will be a monster cake stall in Victoria Square. Fruit, produce and cakes are coming from Nelson, Amberley, Lincoln, Ilarewood and many other places. The promoters of this stall are the wives of Christchurch doctors. Their goods are excellent, and all they desire now is a constant stream of customers.
