JAPANESE ROYALTIES PAY VISIT TO LONDON.

ARE GUESTS OF KING AND QUEEN AT PALACE. Press Assn.—Ey Electric Telecrranh —Oonvrteht.) RUGBY, June 26. Prince Takamatsu, the second brother of the Emperor of Japan, accompanied by Princess Takamatsu, arrived at London this afternoon on a State visit to the King and Queen. The Prince has brought with him the Order of the Rising Sun of Japan to present to the King. Last year the Duke of Gloucester, the King’s third son, visited Japan and invested the Emperor with the Order of the Garter. His Royal Highness had a great reception from the Japanese Royal Family and the Japanese people, and every effort is now being made to accord Prince and Princess Takamatsu a very cordial welcome to this country.

As the royal visitors reached Dover harbour in the steamer Maid of Crete, a salute was fired by the guns of the coast batteries, and aeroplanes circled overhead. The Duke of Gloucester boarded the vessel and welcomed the Prince and Princess on behalf of the King and Queen. A naval guard of honour was mounted on a pier and was inspected by the Prince and an address w ? as presented by the Mayor. At Victoria Station, London, the Prince and Princess were met by the Duke of York, Princess Mary, the Prime Minister, Mr Ramsay MacDonald, the Foreign Secretary, Mr Arthur Henderson, and the Home Secretary, Mr A. Short. A large crowd gathered outside the station and cheered them as they drove in a State carriage, escorted by a body of Life Guards, to Buckingham Palace, where they were received by the King and Queen. The Royal visitors will be the guests of the King and Queen until Saturday, after which they will stay at Claridge’s Hotel as the guests of the Government until their departure on July
