Votes. Mac Govern (Labour) 10,699 Templeton (Conservative) ... 10,303 M’Nicol (Scottish Nationalist) 2,527 Saklatvala (Communist) 1,459
The by-election at Shettleston was caused by the death of the Hon J. Wheatley (Labour). Previous figures were: Wheatley 19,594, Moss (Con.J 12,870.
