MR HOWARD IS SORRY TROUBLE HAS ARISEN.
“I am sorry this little trouble has arisen,” said Mr E. J. Howard. M.P., when the action of the National Council of the Alliance of Labour in declaring “black” the committee at present investigating the operation of the Workers’ Compensation Act was referred to him. “In my opinion,” he add ed, “the Minister of Labour did not wilfully refuse to re-open the question. I certainly think Labour ought to have been asked to appoint its own representative on the committee, but unfortunately the Minister has taken his stand and will not give way now. The Workers’ Compensation Act is a subject of vital importance to the workers and one that should have been freely and fullv examined.”
