The Mayor 's Speech.

To the Editor. Dear Sir,—lt amused me to hear the Mayor chiding Mr A. S. Taylor for “ tactless and tasteless ’’ remarks. His Worship is the last person in the city who should make any complaint, because he is himself a notorious offender. Mr Archer’s trouble is that he regards any criticism or opposition as mere wickedness, and his attitude is far less charitable than that of humbler men. What Mr Taylor said was painfully true, and it was probably the unpalatable truth that stung the Mayor into his retort. Mr Archer’s tongue did Mr Armstrong no good service during the campaign.—l am, etc., LISTENER.
