POLICE HAD NO TROUBLE ON NEW YEAR'S EVE.
New Year’s Eve passed off very quietly, according to police reports. There was the usual noise and bustle about the city, and occasionally constables were called on to check the rowdiness of some of the more irresponsible merrymakers, but there was no seri ous trouble. The crowd took the warn ings in good part, and, though the police had to stand some good-natured jeering as “spoil-sports,” they met no active resistence. The names of several youths, ivho had disregarded the warning with reference to fireworks, were taken, and these offenders will probably be prosecuted.
