GOLD SASH MEETING TO BE HELD TO-NIGHT AT MONICA PARK.
The first big challenge -trophy at the Monica Park Speedway will be competed for to-night. The gold sash is the trophy, but a substantial cash reward goes to the winner in addition. This trophy will be given to the winner of a special match race to be held every two weeks, and challenges will be made by those who qualify by performances in the big sci’atch race each night. The o’tlxer events to-night include a Speedway Mile Scratch Race, the Metropolitan Handicap and a speoial event for B grad© riders, the Sumner Handicap. Altogether twenty riders will race, and at the head of the grand parade which opens the meeting will ride Harry Mangham, New Zealand’s *star broadsider, but now a resident of Adelaide and scratch man at that city’s speedway. Every week Mangham Improves in form, as hfe gets more used tc the cinder track, for he is used to sand tracks in Australia, and as he improves, so does his riding become more dashing, more spectacular and still faster. This will be the last meeting of the Speedway until the Saturday before Christmas, for the management have acceded to the request of the local cycling enthusiasts not to run on the opening night of their big carnival. Those desirous of securing a good seat in the reserved portion of the stadium should ring the Speedway, telephone 31-202. after 6.30 p.m., and tickets will be set aside for them.
