REPERTORY SOCIETY HAS SUCCESSFUL SEASON.

The clever play, “The Lilies of the Field,” was repeated in the Radiant Hail last evening by the Canterbury Repertory Society, and another success was registered. The genuine humour of the play was well brought out by the acting, which in all cases was a credit to the performers. The complicated situations are entirely amusing and entertaining. The attractive play by John Hastings Turner is one which lends itself admirably to amateur presentation. The characters have been well apportioned by the producers. The priceless twins are well portrayed by Valerie Tennant and Gladys Ferguson. Both ladies are the happy possessors of good stage personalities, and no little histrionic ability. W. B. Harris, who some years ago was a prominent performer in Canterbury College productions, was admirable as the antiquarian, that man of parts. Claude Davies was a distinct success as Brian Ropes. The parts of the Rev John Head and his wife were taken by Dr Robinson Hall and Naare Hooper. The pair were entrusted with some difficult characterisation, and their efforts met with decided approval. The grandmother, an excellent part, was finely played by Mrs Spenco-Clark. Other parts were well played by Magdalen Hall and Florence Nicholls. “ The Lilies of the Field ” will be repeated to-night.
