HOUSE OF LORDS WILL NOT INSIST UPON AMENDMENT TO BILL.
(United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright*) (Received December 7, 1.55 pm.) LONDON, December 6. In the House of Lords, the disagreement of the House of Commons with the Necessitous Widows Amendment, passed by the House of Lords, was reported by Lord Salisbury. The amendment was carried as a protest against the growing burdens the Government was throwing on the taxpayers, the House expressing alarm at the effect it must have on the industry and desiring to record their profound apprehension. The House, without a division, agreed not to insist on • the amendment and passed the Bill.
