(Special to the “ Star.”) WINGATUI. October 12. Rangatahi was favourite for the Wakari Hurdles, but after being prominent for a mile he faded out. Taramoa '-ook the lead at the start and seemed to have the race in hand in the straight, >ut his rider, G. Dempster, took matters too easily and Btfauty Light matched a win in the last couple of •trides. Guncase was close up after ueing handy all the way. Antrim Boy lumped patchily and fell at the second ast hurdle. Town Major was easily better backed chan Tembroney for the Kaikorai Handicap. Royal Flower was smartest out, but at the end of a furlong Some Toff and Fallow took charge, Salmo Salar joining in at the far turn, with Topere and Tembroney handy. The last-named pair were in front at the distance, but Sailing Home finished well, beating Topere by a neck with Tembroney a neck away. Some Toff, Crossbow and Town Major were next. Meadow Lark and Royal Saxon were the best backed in the Shorts Handicap. Waving Corn was smartest out, with Meadow Lark next. Aspiring, after being left, moved Up fast at the end of two furlongs, following the leaders round the home turn. Aspiring ran very wide on the turn, and finished last. Waving Corn shot away at the straight, beating Meadow* Lark by three lengths, with Francolin a length away. Black Duke was fourth. Night Lad, Pink Note and Celerity 11. were heavily supported for the Ranfurly Handicap. Night Lad and Mine made the running from Narrative and Taboo, but five furlongs from home Evening joined Narrative for second place. Celerity IL was last at this stage, but she put in a claim with Pink Note in the straight. Celerity 11. headed Night Lad a hundred yards from the post, but the latter came on again, and Celerity 11. won by a nose. Narrative was two lengths away, with Pink Note fourth. Celerity 11/® form looked good. Dutch Money was a hot favourite for the Dunedin Guineas. Meprisant carried over half the amount on the favourite.- Stealth was the early leader, but Flair headed him at the end of a furlong. Passing the half-mile post Disorder joined Flair in the lead, but Stealth took charge in the straight.: Then Meprisant came from last | with a great run and beat Stealth by a nose. Dutch Money was four lengths away, with Flair fourth. The Spoon-The Geisha bracket was easily favourite for the Dominion Handicap. Kerbside, who did not start in the M'Lean Stakes, streaked away with a good lead early, Tracsono and Spoon following her to the straight. Kerbside kept going and won by five lengths from Spoon, who beat Tracsono by three lengths, with Rosy Mora and Countermarch next. The winner showed brilliant speed.
