TROTTING NOTES. Nominations for the Oaraaru Trotting Club’s spring meeting close pn Monday WANGANUI GALLOPS. (Special to the “ Star.”) WANGANUI. October 32. There was some good work done on the local tracks this morning, when the track was in good order. Auctioneer was sent >six furlongs by himself and he did the last five in lmin 6£sec, hitting out nicely. Potoaform and Star Area jumped off just short of the mile peg. Timed fbr seven furlongs, they ran the first three in 39sec, the half-mile in 50$sec, five furlongs in lmin ssec, and the full distance in lmin 33sec, finishing togethe:. Star Area was going along nicely at the end, while it was a good gallop on the part of the Potoa gelding. Banket was sprinted over half a mile, which she cut out in. 52 4-ssec, being wide out. Just An Idea and Arisus were associated in a three furlong flutter, and they registered 36sec for the distance Arisus, on the inner, had just a shade the better of it. The son of Thespiaix hit out well and promises to win some good races later on. Vertigern was stepped out over five furlongs, which he left behind in lmin 4 l-ssec, striding out very nicely. H* looks in great fettle. Warflame and Grecian finished practically together in a spin over five fur longs, the time registered being lmin 4 sec. Count Palatine and Talisker ran six furlongs from almost a standing start, the former being a shade in front at the jump off. They finished up on even terms in lmin 16 4-ssec, the las' five furlongs being run in lmin 2 3-ssec Fernden was given a run over five furlongs. He ran the first furlong in 12 2-ssee, the quarter-mile in 23 4-ssec, and three furlongs in 36sec, but was then eased up to run home in lmin 6 l-ssec. Laughing Prince showed such great form at Wanganui last month that it appeared as if he had only to keep sound to win some of the principal weight-for-age races' thi3 season. Unfortunately, the son of Quantock has gone amiss and is an unlikely starter at Trentham or Riccarton. It will be noticed that his name does not figure among those engaged at the Auckland summer meeting.
