TROUBLE OVER RIGHTS TO FISHERIES GROWS.

RUSSO-JAPANESE 1 TREATY DISPUTE. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received June 15, 11.30 a.m.) KOBE, June 14. The possibilities of serious trouble in the Kamchatka fisheries have not been averted. While Japanese rights are hindered by the dispute between the bidders the l fishing season is progressing and the Russians are reported to be working areas to which the Japanese possess treaty rights. There is a sharp difference between the Japanese Foreign Office and the Agriculture Department, the former condemning unauthorised Japanese fishing and the latter favouring it. 3 It is reported that Russian armed patrol ships are vigilant and therefore unauthorised fishing would probably lead to diplomatic trouble, hindering the exercise of the treaty. Nevertheless Japanese fishermen depend entirely on the fisheries for a livelihood. —United Service.
