“MONEY CANNOT BUY ART,” SAYS HARRY LAUDER.
(Special to the “Star.”) TIMARU, June 15. “ Art is a substance which money cannot buy and cannot take away,” said Sir Harry Lauder in an interview last evening. “ A lot of people think that because I have made money from my professional work I ought to retire. I sing and act because it gives me great joy. and even if there were only half a dozen people in the theatre they would get all in me. I have the same enthusiasm for three as 1 have for three thousand.. “ I hope that my love of my art will never die,” he continued, “ because I know the jo’y it gives. No one ever asks Henry Ford or Edison to give up because they have made money, and my art is as much to me as theirs is to them.”
