HERTZOG LIKELY TO HAVE 78 SEATS.

LARGE INCREASE IN VOTES OVER PREVIOUS ELECTION FIGURES.

(United Press Assn. —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received June 15, 9.45 a.m.) CAPE TOWN, June 14. Four returns, including a gain at Colesburg Cape, bring the Nationalist total to 70 seats, leaving the South African Party with 59 seats and Labour 8. Ten results are awaited, including Tambuland and East Griqualand, where there is a large native vote. Both are certainties for the South African Party. This means that the final result will probably be: Nationalists (General Hertzog) .. 78 South African Party (General Smuts) 61 Labour (Colonel Creswell) 8 The Nationalists polled 22,000 more votes than last election, the South Africans 6000 more votes, and Labour 10,000 fewer. The election shows that the old racial divisions are rampant in the rural areas.—Australian Press Association.
