OBJECTORS MAKE SMALL TOTAL OF NEW ASSESSMENTS.
Mr W. L. Wiggins, officer in charge of the Valuation Department in Christchurch, has received 1370 objections to the fresh valuations in the city. This is 5.7 per cent of the total number of assessments.
Mr Wiggins .states that the percentage is very small. Many objectors live in the poorer parts of the city, and on account of their position, object to any increase in rates.. The fresh valuations, Mr Wiggins points out, do not necessarily mean increased rates In some cases the rates may be less than formerly.
