KAIAPOI PLUNKET SOCIETY.
The annual meeting of the Kaiapoi branch of the Plunket Society-was held in the W.C.T.U. Rooms on Thursday afternoon, the president, Mrs H. MTntosh, presiding over a good attendance of members.
The annual report stated that the annual house-to-house collection in June was very generously supported. This, with a cake stall in October and several new annual subscriptions, had helped to make the year a successful one financially. Several parcels of silver paper had been forwarded to the Christchurch branch and flowers were collected for “ Violet Day.” The death of Mrs J. Stewart, a new member of the committee, was recorded with regret, Mrs Stewart having been keenly interested in the work of the Plunket Society although ill-health prevented her from taking a very active part on the committee.. The committee placed on record its sincere appreciation of the capable and willing way in which Mrs L. C. B. Fuldseth had for eleven years filled the position of honorary secretary of the branch, her resignation in January having been received with keen regret. Until the annual meeting Mrs W. G. Clarke had consented to act as honorary treasurer and Mrs H. 11. Blackwell as honorary secretary. The committee extended its thanks to Nurse Davies and to Nurse Barnett, who was at present acting as relieving nurse. Nurse Barnett reported the following number of visits paid to the rooms during the past year:—Attendance at rooms: Adults 957, babies 862, older children 214, new cases, breast-fed 17. artificially-fed 9, breast and artificial 4. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following officers were elected: — President, Mrs 11. M'lntosh; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames G. E. Gillctt, L. C. B. Fuldseth, W. 11. A. Vickery and H. C. Revell; honorary secretary, Mrs 11. K. Blackwell; treasurer, Mrs W. G. Clarke; committee, Mesdames D. Oram, E. Clothier, H. Baird, J. W. Barnard, E. Bristow, P. J. Richards, L. Parnham, W. 11. Fuldseth was the recipient of a China supper set from the committee, the presentation being made by the president.
During the afternoon Mrs C. Chilton gave an interesting description of Plunket work in New Zealand and other lands. Musical items were contributed by Mrs W. G. Wylie and Mrs Rillcliffe.
