COMMISSIONERS OF THE BOY SCOUT MOVEMENT ATTEND CONFERENCE.

A round-the-table conference among members of the Dominion executive of the Boy Scouts Association and district commissioners was held in Christchurch last night. The discussion was taken in committee.

There were present at the conference: General A. -W. Andrew (president), Dr P. Clennel Fenwick (DeputyCommissioner), Lieut.-Co!. F. B. Creswell, Messrs G. W. Bishop, H. S. J. Goodman, H. Amos, and the Rev W. H. Orbell. The Commissioners present were Sir Alfred Robin (Wellington) and Mr Holdsworth (Auckland). The president said that the gathering was for the purpose of talking over matters with the district commissioners. It was not a business meeting of the executive. lie believed that a round-the-table conference would be for the benefit of the movement as a whole. The Commissioner for Christchurch (Major Ashworth) had resigned, ! and the Commissioner for Dunedin was unable to be present. The Dominion executive was constituted to carry out the resolutions of the council. It might be that the rules of the council did not permit of elasticity. The Commissioners for Auckland and Wellington would like to talk about the group system. “ I believe that this is in committee,” said Mr Goodman. “ I understood that there was to be an informal talk,” Mr Amos, in moving that the conference be taken in committee, said that if they* did “ get a little bit stirred up at times,” they* should be the only ones to know it. Mr Amos’s motion was carried. General matters affecting the Scout movement were discussed, and it was decided to hold a further conference before the annual .meeting.
