VISIT PAID TO ST GEORGE’S HOSPITAL BY BISHOP OF AOTEAROA.
Yesterday afternoon Bishop Bennett visited St George’s Hospital. He was met at the entrance by Mother Alice and her sisters and the matron. The Bishop expressed pleasure at finding such a wonderful building which, ho said, was a monument of faith and perseverance of which the Church would for all time be proud. He could not see a single thing that was wanting. He was especially struck with the openair roof and the new ward which has just been completed. It was a surprising thing that such extensive enlargements had to be made so soon after the hospital had been opened. Bishop Bennett was taken to see some of the patients, and he found them, as he said, “apparently at home and not in a hospital at all.” He admired the taste shown in the hospital furniture, and said he was pleased to find such an up-to-date theatre. As he left the Bishop congratulated the sisters on the splendid appearance ot every* part of the hospital. Christchurch was indeed fortunate to possess such an institution.
