MISS COPPLESTONE VISITS CITY ON WAY TO PICTON.
Miss Lily Copplestone, who has decided to make a further attempt to swim Cook Strait from the South Island to the North Island within the next fortnight, arrived in Christchurch from Ashburton last evening and pro, ceeded to Picton to-day. She attended the performance at the Opera House last night and just before the curtain was rung down, Mr Pat Hanna, the principal of the company, drew the attention of the audience to her presence in the theatre and in a happy speech wished her the best of good luck in the hazardous swim she had decided to undertake. His remarks were heartily applauded by the audience.
