MAN IS REMANDED ON BIGAMY CHARGE
ENGLISH CHEF ADMITS FACTS, SAYS CHIEFDETECTIVE CARROLL
A charge of bigamy was called for the first time for some months in the Magistrate’s Court this morning, when a chef of twenty-eight years, described as an Englishman, appeared before Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M. Albert Echvard Herbert Vince appeared on charges of failing to maintain his wife, and of bigamy in that he married Emily Marion Jewell at Hamilton on June 6, 1928, having been married on December 6, 1923, at Otaki, to Violet Mary Gibbons. “Accused has frankly admitted the bigamy charge." saiel Chief-Detective J. Carroll, in applying for a remand until January 4. Both charges were adjourned until January 4. On the application of the Maintenance Officer (Mr P. Jones), ,an affiliation order in respect to the child of a third woman was issued against accused, who consented to the order. Maintenance was fixed at 12s 6d a week.
