KABUL IS QUIET, SAYS LEGATION.
KING AMANULLAH NOT TAKING REFUGE. (CONTINUED FROM PAGE 1.) (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received December 20, 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, December 19. The Afghan Legation at London says that the main trouble with the natives concerns the new taxes, and has nothing to do with King Amanullatt’s reform policy. The latest news from Kabul said that the capital is quiet. A band of highway robbers attacked a post twelve miles from the city, but were repulsed. It is untrue that King Amanullah is taking refuge, as he is now residing at the Palace. Official telegrams state that Europeans are safe and the Government is in full control of the situation. The Afghan Legation at London has been in uninterrupted communication with Kabul by wireless throughout.— Australian Press Association—United Service.
