A CENTURY APIECE.
WOODFUL L AND HENDRY.
At Sydney yesterday, when it looked as if Australia might be defeated by an innings, Woodfull and Hendry made an excellent stand, adding 215 for the second wicket. They showed that Australians still possess the fighting spirit, says the report of the match. Woodfull made 111 and Hendry 112.
Under all conditions, Woodfull has proved himself a great opening batsman. In England in 1926, he was second only to Macartney in batting performances in the tests. He played six innings for 306 runs, the average being 51. He is temperamentally fitted for big cricket. Hunter L. Hendry has been one of the best all-rounders in Australian cricket since the war. He first appeared with the Australian Eleven in 1921. He has batted on seven occasions for 57 runs, at an average of 11.40, and has taken six wickets for 176 runs. In recent seasons he has improved remarkably as a batsman. Ho is also an accomplished slip fieldsman.
