MR G. SARA AGAIN HEAD OF THE BRITISH MANUFACTURERS IN N.Z.
At the first meeting of the new council of the British Manufacturers’ Association of New Zealand, in Wellington, the first business was the election of a president and two vice-presi-dents. Mr C. W. Salmon proposed the re-election of the retiring president, Mr G. Sara, which was seconded by Mr L. A. Edwards. Mr Sara, however, explained that, as he is leaving this month for the Old Country, and the duration of his stay there would probably not permit him doing much in the interests of the association, he would have to decline nomination. After several speakers had urged Mr Sara to continue in office he eventually agreed to the nomination, and -was unanimously re-elected. Messrs C. W. Salmon and L. Ashcroft Edwards were re-elected vice-presidents. Among some of the matters dealt with by the meeting was a question of an Empire shopping week in 1929, and it was resolved that the January meeting of the council take steps to commence the necessary arrangements, and it was hoped that the intervening four months will allow sufficient time to organise a representative display of Empire products.
