(Received August 25, 11.25 a.m.) LONDON, August 24. The Channel has been swum by two British girls within a week. Miss Sharp’s swim was distinctly meritorious, the corrected time being 14 hours 58 minutes. She returned from France to-night, stating that she would probably make another attempt to lower Miss Gertrude Ederle’s record and win the £IOOO prize being offered. She used the trudgeon crawl throughout and once appeared likely to beat the women’s record by three hours, but the tide held heir back. She says that she is prepared to challenge Miss Gertrude Ederle if a suitable prize is offered.—Australian Press Association.
