WHANGAREI MAY BE A BUNKERING PORT.

The movement to make Wharigarei a coal bunkering port advanced another step last night, when a meeting of all the local bodies in the district passed a resolution urging the Minister of Railways to place 100 Q waggons, on the North Auckland railway for the transportation of coal where required. An influential deputation was appointed to accompany the member for the district when waiting on the Minister. Letters received by the Harbour Board from overseas shipping to Auckland, showed that as soon as facilities were provided, ships would be taken to bunker here. The coal supplies are of great, extent.
