PORT HILLS-AKAROA SUMMIT ROAD TRUST.

To the Editor. Sir, —In justice to Mr Ell. and ’ in order to prevent any misapprehension or wrong surmise with regard to the advertisement inserted in to-day’s paper, under the above heading, I take this opportunity to gratefully acknowledge on behalf of the board the great assistance Mr Ell and his friends have in the past, from time to time, rendered to the trust by the raising of funds inde-

pendently of the board for specific purposes connected with the work of the trust. I also desire to state that the board has no objection to the continuance of this practice; quite the reverse, provided only it is clearly understood by the donors and by the public that the board will not, and cannot, hold itself responsible for contributions received or orders given otherwise than as described in the above-mentioned advertisement. Another advertisement will shortly appear in this paper, calling a meeting of past and present sup porters of the trust for the purpose of reviewing its present position and prospects, and of considering how its future can be best assured.—l am, etc., • JOHN STUDHOLME, Acting-Chairman. Port Hills-Akaroa Summit Road Trust. THE “ ROARER.” To the Editor. Sir, —I, and no doubt some hundreds of local listeners, was really pleased to learn from this evening’s “Star” that our enemy the “Roarer” has at last been located. What I cannot, however, understand, is why it has taken the authorities at least six months to track him down. I personally, informed our local inspector, Mr Head, of the whereabouts of this machine just about six months ago. However, we all trust, after such a long period of waiting, we may now be permitted once again of listening to KFON and other interesting stations, without the company of the ‘‘Roarer.”—l am etc., FAD A.
