HYDE PARK AFFAIR NOT ENDED YET.

POLICE QUESTION WOMAN IN CASE. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LON DON/ May 17. In the House of Commons a Labour member, Mr Tom Johnston, gave notice that he would ask the Home Secretary to-day whether he was aware that two police officers on May 15 called at the place of business of Miss Irene Savage and, without affording her an opportunity to communicate with her parents or legal advisers. motored her to Scotland Yard, where she was questioned for five hours in connection with an inquiry which is being held into the case in which Sir Leo Chiozza Money was charged with indecency in Hyde Park. Miss Savage’s father told the “Daily Express” that it was true that the police called at the firm where his’ daughter was employed and asked her to go to Scotland Yard. There she was' detained for five hours, during which a short cross-examination occurred for which she was not prepared. He was not ready to disclose' details, as the matter was in the hands of the family solicitors.—Australian Press Association. The case against Sir Leo Money and Miss Savage was dismissed at the Marlborough Street Court and costs were given against the police. The Magistrate said that the explanations of the police as to why they had failed to obtain the available evidence failed to satisfy him. Anyway, he could not help thinking that in such cases the police in change of stations should send reports to headquarters for the consideration of the Commissioner. If that had been done in the present case it would not have been brought. The Home Secretary had to answer a series of questions on the subject in the House of Commons. He said that the case raised a grave issue, into which he was fully inquiring. He and the Police Commissioner were considering whether to hold an inquiry, or whether the officers concerned were guilty of perjury, in which case it would be a matter for another court.
