(United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received May 17, 11.30 a.m.) WASHINGTON, May 16. The Federal Reserve Board has reported that the unemployment situation is improvingThe board disclosed that employment early this year dropped approximately to the 1924 low level. There was a substantial reduction during 1927 in factory employment, a curtailment in building and agricultural operationf, and a reduction of employment in coal mines, causing what the board termed a “depressing affect on the general labour market.” The most pronounced decreases in employment since March, 1927, have been in shipbuilding, petroleum refining and some of the industries making iron and steel products and building materials, but considerably more are employed now in other lines than a year ago. —Australian Press Association.
