“ No. We have cheaper institutions for men like this,” was the reply given in the Magistrate’s Court this morning by Sub-Inspector Fitzpatrick to a suggestion offered by the Magistrate (Mr H. P. La wry) that William James Kennedy should be returned to Roto Roa Island. Kennedy, who resides at 342, Madras Street, was charged with a breach of his prohibition order. • Sub-Inspector Fitzpatrick said that defendant had been found at 17, Clyde Street, with a number of other men who were drinking. All were in a more or less drunken condition. It was Kennedy'/; first breach of his prohibition order. He had been discharged from the island in September last. The Magistrate (to defendant): When did you come back from the island?—ln September, sir. They let you back early?—Yes. Kennedy was fined £3. “ Can you pay the fine, or do you want a default fixed?” asked the Magistrate.
“ Default, plea.se.” replied Kennedy. Default was fixed at seven days’ imprisonment.
