Five Killed in Smashes On Australian Roads.
FOUR MEET DEATHS AT LEVEL CROSSINGS, AND MAORI MOTOR-CYCLIST STRIKES CART. (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraplu—Copyright.) (Received April 30, 10.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, April 30. A MOTOR-CAR containing a man and a woman was wrecked at a level crossing at Ilallam, on the Dandenong line. Mrs Marie Nugent, fifty, of H'allam, and Arthur O’Leary, twenty-five, Gardenvalc, were killed. A fast milk train crashed into the car, the driver of which thought he would be able to clear the crossing, but misjudged the train’s pace.—Australian Press Association. FATALITIES IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA. PERTH, April 30. A fatal level crossing accident occurred near the Midland Junction when a train from Perth collided with a car, killing Henry Russell, of Mundaring, a storekeeper, and his wife, Margaret Russell. A Maori motor-cyclist, Tamawhete Te Ivuan, twenty-six, was killed at Bassendean, when his cycle crashed into a spring cart. —Australian Press Association.
