savage club holds ANNUAL MEETING.
The annual meeting of the Christchurch Savage Club was held on Saturday evening, Savage T. M. Charters presiding over a good attendance of members. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, Savage Charters said that the club had experienced a successful year, and finished up with a credit of £lB. He mentioned that there had been no increase in membership, and urged members to do their utmost to enrol new members.
The report and balance sheet, alreadypublished. were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Great Chief and president, Savage G. M. Hall; vice-presidents. Savages George M. Smith and C. E Jones; hon. secretary, Savage A. E. Loach; hon. treasurer. Savage W. 1. le Cren; committee. Savages W. S. Bavcrstock, A. M. Burns, 11. H. Hanna, A. Donaldson, G. W. Russell, L. Campbell, C. H. Kerslev and A. C. Cottrell; auditor, Savage H. T. Fran The* newly-elected Great Chief, Savage Cr. M. Hall, was welcomed to the position and he thanked members for his election. Savage J.' Cohen mentioned that the Auckland and Wellington Savage Clubs had a waiting list of members, while the Christchurch Club was endeavouring to obtain a bigger membership. He suggested that a competition be arranged, and a prize given to the member who enrolled the most new entrants. suggested also obtaining the services of a professional organiser for the entertainments. After discussion it was decided, on the motion of Savage Hobbs, that’ the incoming committee be recommended to obtain the services of a professional organiser for the club’s programmes. At the conclusion of the meeting several items were given by members.
