ATTEMPT MADE IN CITY TO BLOW OPEN SAFE.
DARING BURGLARS ENTER PREMISES OF MADDREN BROS., LTD. Burglars entered the premises of Maddren Bros., Ltd., ropemakers, 146 Madras Street South, last night, and made a daring but unsuccessful attempt to blow open the safe. Evidently the thieves were disturbed, as nothing was stolen. Yesterday morning explosives were stolen from the Tramway' Board’s magazine at Redcliffs, and this probably has some bearing on the attempted safe-blowing last night.
