PARISHIONERS FAREWELL REV FATHER QUINN.

Amongst the many clerical changes made recently in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Christchurch, was the transfer of the Rev Father Quinn, of the Sacred Heart Parish, Addington, to Grevmouth. On Wednesday evening the parishioners farewelled this popular priest, expressing appreciation of his four years labours and their regret at his departure from Addi'ngton. The proceedings opened with a musical programme, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. It was contributed by the following:—Miss Quigley, Mrs Sierakowski, Mr M’Cormack, Mr<C. O’Sullivan, Mr J. Lockhart, Mr J. Gillhoolev and Master Mackie. A number of speakers referred to the sterling qualities and popularity of the Rev Father Quinn. Mr Considine, on behalf of the members of the tennis club and parishioners combined, conveyed to Father Quinn their appreciation of his good work and his regret at his departure, and in asking him to accept a cheque, assured him of the good wishes of every parishioner. Mr Ward, on behalf of of Halswell, also spoke in appreciative terms of the guest of the evening, and presented him with a * well-filled wallet. Presentations were also made from the Children of Mary Sodality, the school children of Addington and Halswell and also the altar boys. The Rev Father on rising to respond, had a rousing reception. lie thanked all for their kind expressions, also for the accompanying gifts. Four years, he said, was a long space "to look back upon. He had been very happy i*n Addington, and regretted leaving it.
