GARDEN PARTY.
WOOLSTON PLUNKET SOCIETY. The Woolston branch of the Plunket Society should be well pleased with their successful efforts on Saturday afternoon, when they held a garden party at the home of their president, Mrs J. E. Garland, Cumnor Terrace, Hillsborough, Woolston. The weather was not at its best, but, in spite of this, there was a large attendance. Stalls were erected on the lawn and in front of the house, and the trees formed a good shelter from the wind. Mrs J. Cracroft Wilson, president of the Christchurch branch, officially opened the sale, and spoke briefly on the work of the Plunket Society and its aims and objects. She congratulated the organisers on their efforts and wished them every success in their good work. During the afternoon a concert party arranged by Airs Buxton, Clifton, Sumner, gave a programme of items, which were greatly enjoyed by the many present. The stalls and stall-holders were: —Work, Airs Barwick; cakes, Mrs Atoncrieff; produce, Mrs Lingard; sweets. Misses Mary Garland. Joyce Burt, Margaret Talbot and Dorothy Kemahan; ice cream and soft drinks, Rupert and Tony Garland; afternoon tea, Mrs Allan and Mrs Abkins; Christmas tree, Airs Aliskell.
