SUNDAY CONCERTS.

To the Editor. Sir,—Allow me space in your valuable paper to express my thoughts on some of the complaints about broadcasting from 3YA. “Detector” and rather of Three” seem to be very much hurt about Sunday evening’s concert. If it was so awful and contaminating to them and their children why did they not switch off and tune in to Dunedin, Wellington or Auckland, where they could have got the church service they were looking for? No. they are the sort of sports who take all they can get for nothing and then throw mud in the giver’s face. I can picture them listening so carefully so as not to let a sound escape them. If " Father of Three ” is such a Christian, it is a pity he would not practise a little more of what he professes to be. and “ love thy neighbour as thyself, instead of speaking of gentlemen as the low comedian and jazzy type. “ Detector ” described it as a " smoke concert.” I suppose, had it been a smoke concert, he would have rolled up to get his glass of beer and cigar. He also considered some of the items as doubtful. If that is his good, clean thought, it ddes not say much for his bad thoughts. “ Detector ” also thinks hi his own wee mind that it is a waste of good money to build a nurses’ memorial chapel. Was he one of those poor, unfortunate men who were wounded at the front, and were only too glad to accept the care and attention of those nurses who sacrificed their lives to go out and nurse the wounded and dying at the front? Or was he one of those who would not go? If he did go, I must say he is showing a very poor example of his appreciation, jn conclusion, I wish to state that I go to church and give as much to the church as " Detector ” and “ Father pf Three ” give, but I must say I go and enjoy every concert Mr Bennet and his party give, and find nothing to make me feel doubtful as to what the performers mean. They speak everything in English. I only wish a few more would do as much as Air Bennet’s party are doing.—l am, etc., BROAD-MINDED.
