ISLINGTON CHALLENGE CUP PRESENTED BY THE COLONEL COMMANDANT Khaki was much in evidence at. St Andrew’s College yesterday afternoon, when Colonel M. M. Gard’nor, commandant of the Southern Command, pretin- college cadet company. The trophy, which is for shooting, is comIsVof the Dominion, and has been won by St Andrew’s College with the best class-firing average in New Zealand. Prior to the presentation, the cadets paraded for inspection, following which the customary drill evolutions were performed. The company then marched round the ground behind the pipe band, and formed up in a hollow square for the presentation of the cup. Colonel Gard’ner, in handing over the cup to Company-Sergeant Major A. M. Hartnell, congratulated the company on their achievement In winning the trophy, and on their general smartness on parade. As a. unit, he said, the St Andrew’s Company was comparatively young, having been formed only about eight years ago. To have reached their present standard of efficiency was greatly to their credit.
