PERSONAL.
Mr Justice Stringer will return to Christchurch from Timaru to-morrow evening. Sir R. Heaton and Lady Rhodes, and Mr B. B. Wood, were passengers to Christchurch by the ferry boat from Wellington this morning. The North Auckland Presbytery has nominated the Rev George Budd for the moderatorship of the general assembly (states a Press Association message). Dr Guy Scholefield, Parliamentary Librarian, who has been visiting Akaroa, was in Christchurch to-day. He leaves for Wellington this evening. The staff of the motor department of the New Zealand Fanners’ Co-opera-tive Association met Mr G. B. Brown on Saturday on the occasion of his retirement after eight years with the association. during the last twelve months of which he occupied the position of assistant manager to the department. On behalf of the staff. Mr presented him with a smoker’s outfit and wished him every success in his future career. Mr Brown suitably replied. Mr Brown has accepted the agency for Canterbury for the Armstrong-Siddeley and Bentley motorcars and Thorneycroft trucks.
