WITNESS SAID IT WAS HARE-BRAINED.

SUBSTANTIAL FINE IMPOSED ON NEGLIGENT MOTORIST. “ One person who saw the incident said it was the most hare-brained act he had seen,” said Senior-Sergeant Martin to-day, when Joseph Dunick, a labourer, was being delat with on two charges, one. of negligent driving, the other of failing to sound the horn of his motor vehicle.

The action arose as the result of a collision which occurred at the Clock Tower, the car driven by the defendant colliding with another car.

The defendant did not appear to answer the charge, but Mr K. M. Gresson acted on his behalf. Counsel admitted a degree of negligence and left it to the Court to fix the penalty. The defendant was fined £2O, and his licence was suspended until March 31 1927.

The conviction was on the negligent driving charge, the other being withdrawn.
