WEDDING.

M’CARTHY—GILL. St Mary’s Church, Manchester Street, was the scene of a pretty wedding recently’ when Cecilia, daughter of Mrs and the late Mr James Gill, of Cranford Street, was married to Francis, son of Mrs and the late Mr Robert M’Carthy, of Broadfood, County’ Limerick, Ireland. The Rev Father Gill, C.S.S.R., brother of -the bride, assisted by* the Rev Father O’Connell, performed the ceremony, after which the Nuptial Mass was celebrated. The bride, who was escorted to the altar by her brother-in-law’, Mr W. Hayes, was dressed in cream marocain and carried a white bouquet. The bridal veil, which was the work of her sister. Rev Mother Maxentia, was surmounted by* a coronet of pearls and orange blossom. During the wedding ceremony, she wore the blue mantle of the sodality’ of the Children of Mary’. The bridesmaid*; Miss Mary Whelan, wore a dress of apricot georgette and a black picture hat. The bridegroom was attended by’ his cousin. Mr J. M’Carthy*, as best man, while Mr Jerry M’Carthy, of Auckland, brother of the bridegroom, acted as groomsman. Miss M. Ifalpin played the Wedding March and appropriate music during the Mass. After the ceremony, about fiftyguests, consisting of relatives and intimate friends, were entertained at “The Grange,” West Melton, the residence of the bride's sister, the hostess being robed in an ensemble suit of blue repp. Before the happy couple left on their wedding tour, the bride was presented by her niece, little EHie Doodv, with a silver horseshoe.
