PARISH MEETINGS

FENDALTON. The annual parish meeting: of Kendalton was held last evening in Barnabas’ schoolroom, when the Rev T-f. S. Leach presided over r. large attendance. Tho churchwarden’s report showed that the ordinary income for the year amounted to £9S2, and a credit balance of £sl remained after all expenses had boon paid. A sum of £ISO had been given for missions and social work. The Memorial Church Building: Fund report showed that £2266 had been received during' the year. The total coat of the new church and furnishings was £12.500; « sum of a little over £IOO9 only was needed to open the church free of debt, and it. was expected this would be forthcoming: before the church opening: in October next. The vicar reviewed the parish work for the year and referred to the largre Increase in the congregation. On Sunday mornings the church had been Ailed to overflowing for some time past. The Sunday schools were doing an excellent work but tho motor-car was proving a. hindrance to the attendance of the children. On May 26 the jubilee of the opening of the first, part of the old church would he celebrated with suitable services and parish gatherings. Messrs T. H. Beckett and C. J. Samuda were re-appointed churchwardens, and the following were elected as a vestry: Messrs S. W. Jameson. W. T. Edgar J. H. Dunkley, C». T. Mulcock, F. P. Beckett, S. T). Meares, R. F. Holderness, S. T.. Partridge, S. F. Webb, W. A. White. A resolution was passed giving the vestry power to arrange for the removal of the old church, which has been a Fendalton land mark for half a century. A lengthy list of gifts for the new church was read and it was realised that it would be a. thoroughly well-furnished house of God. The various parochial organisations were reviewed and discussed and it was felt that useful spiritual and material work was being done. Votes of thanks to all workers and helpers In the parish were passed, after which refreshments were provided, and the meeting closed.
