ASHBURTON CARRIER FINED (Special to the “Star.") ASHBURTON. June 19. charges involving tbe Licensing Act ami tho local by-laws rvero pretorred against Herbert White at tho Magistrate's Court to-day. Tbo charges were: (Ii That, being a carrier, lie did bring liq into a No-Licens® area without, mi. order 1,, <]„ so; (2) Jio did drive a car while intoxicated; <:{) that ho did dir® a ear in. a manner dangerous to tho public; (4) tha the did drive a car without, having a license to do bo; ami, (5) that ho did fail to havo a lighted lamp at tbo rear of tho motor-car. Accused pleaded not guilty to tbe first charge .and was fined £3 arid costs. He also pleaded not guilty to charges fwo and throe, which were withdrawn On charge four ho was fined £1 and costs, arid on cTTargo five he was ordered to pay 7s costs.
