LATE SOCIAL NEWS. SAILING AND POWER BOAT CLUB. In conjunction with the opening of the Sailing and Power Boat Club at Redcliffs on Saturday afternoon several ladies dispensed afternoon tea in the club’s pavilion. The tables on which the dainty tea was laid were decorated in the club colours, red and white, the flowers being tulips and daisies. The tea was served by Mr Taylor, Mrs Hines, Mrs Etheridge, and Misses Hines, Taylor, Hullett, Etheridge and Burrows. Amongst the onlookers were Mr and Mrs A. Robinson. Mr and Mrs J. CLUB. The Sumner-Redcliffs Bowing Club were fortunate in having such, beautiful weather in which to open thenseason on Saturday afternoon. There were a large number of; visitors, who wero entertained at a.dainty afternoon tea by the president oi the club, Mr C. M. Boswell, and Mrs Boswell. The tables were decorated with flowers in the club colours, blue and yellow, ami Mrs Roswell was helped by several of her friends, in dispensing the ton. Amongst the guests were:—Mr and Mrs A. A. On Saturday evening in the Cnmmn--1 nity Hall, a most enjoyable dance was held bv the Christchurch Sailing and Power Boat Club. There was a large attendance of visitors, who spent a merry evening dancing to music supplied by Keig*s Orchestra. The decorations were carried out in red and white, the club’s colours, and several spotlight dances took place. Supper was served by a committee of ladies. Sumof' the coming 0 of age~ of her eldest daughter, Doris. The rooms were prepared for dancing, and excellent music was contributed. A very dainty supper was served in the dining-room. THE WELSH CONCERT. Some strikingly pretty frocks were worn by the artists at the Cambrian Society’s concert on Saturday night. Mrs Stall ard wore a handsome gown of black and gold, with long angel • sleeves of lace terminating in gold tassels; Miss Bessie Pollard, taffetas frock of blue and gold, made with gaugings below the waist, and rosettes of gold; Miss Edna Penney, an effective frock of black velvet, with collar cuffs and sash of white: Miss Olga Wacked, a lovelv frock of apricot net with a diamond-shaped ceinture and insets on the sleeves of silver lase ; Miss Nellie Davies, frock of paon blue satin and steel beacls. J The quaint old-world costumes worn ; bv Ibe Misses Pollard were much ad- ; mired. They were fashioned of yellow ’ brocade and relieved with mauve.
