A GALLANT RESCUE.

(Per Press Association.) TV HAKAT AN E. June 29. Gallant rescue work was performed hv Captain Thompson and the crew of the ship War Lord in rescuing H. Fox, the survivor of the launch disaster at the heads yesterday. They put off in the ship’s boat amid the heavy seas breaking on the rocks. Captain Thompson jumped on to a rook and rescued Fox, who was in an exhausted condition. But for his prompt action there would have been little chance of a rescuo as the tide and seas were increasing. The launch was smashed to pieces on the rocks. Tho body of M’Donald was washed on the beach tliis morning. Deceased was a seaman, li; is understood that his wile and lamil> reside in Gisborne.
