SELF GOVERNMENT FOR PALESTINE. (Received June 29, 12.15 p.m.) LONDON, June 28. Jhe Duke of Devonshire, speaking in the House of Lords, stated that it was the intention of the Government ti> giro tho fullest support to tho High Commissioner in carrying out the duties of Government in Palestine in accordance with the instructions of tho mandate. Jit was possible for the League of Nations to resign the mandate, but that involved a grave risk not only regarding Palestine but in respect to relations with other Powers. The Government hoped, when sonio of the difficulties were dissolved, that the people of Palestine would bo ready to take an active part in their country’s administration. The Government had come to the conclusion that the most satisfactory method was to establish self-government by instalments.
