SOCCER TEAM'S VISIT.
DIFFICULTIES OVERCOME. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 11. The trouble over the payment of steamer fares in connection with the visit, of the New Zealand Soccer team to Australia was settled this morning. Mr Salmond. secretary of the New Zealand Association, has received a cablegram from Austro’v* stating: “Passage money been paid into shipping company. Wellington office being advised.” At a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Football Association to-night, the secretary (Mr Salmon) reported that, he had not. yet received an intimation from Mr Storey, secretary of the Ne.v South Wales Football Association, that passages for the New Zealand team, to leave for Australia next Friday, had been secured. All the transport arrangements at this end bad been made, including the assembling of the team in Wellington, but the shipping company advised that no passages had been booked. The chairman said the position was grave and most unbusinesslike. It was decided to send a cable for berths, and if these are unsecured by Saturday the team will be : withdrawn.
